Abdication

Now that I've submitted one draft of my thesis... one of a bazillion, I fear. and January has ended, I'm taking a little time to bathe myself in the moment. This means I'M GOING TO SHOWS.

January was "bad" enough that I needed a complete brain break and went to go see The Iron Lady. I suggest anyone who wants to know a little bit about history to go see it. Also, women who might want a little nudge to push the boundaries, and perhaps anyone who saw Billy Elliot and wants some historical context.

Along the lines of The Iron Lady, I am trying to learn to give up control of the current auditorium situation that I'm going through. However, it's quite a hard habit to break, especially given my close ties with it and my thesis. It will be good for me, professionally, to allow someone else to control the situation- letting the powers that be do what is right. I did however, do some tech upgrades - meaning I did away with the VGA cable that was attached from our super Mac and replaced it with DVI. A digital connection WOAH nelly. ;) Thatcher ended up stepping away from power to allow for a change, even though she didn't want to. The rest is history.

Already this month I have a scheduled date for the Opera. It's actually a networking event with Met Opera for students, the show is the Barber of Seville! Then I think I'll be taking one of my friends, for his birthday, to go see a classic - Don Giovani. I will also be seeing before the 11th Boeing Boeing out at the Paper Mill Playhouse. It will be a nice active theatre going month, I think, at least in comparison. Best part, is the Opera is $25-35, Boeing Boeing is free! Hopefully I'll get some posts up about the shows.

Also, in the making is a networking / tedx type event that I'm helping to organize for Pratt's ACMPeople student group! Yay. The date is March 10th, 2012. Looking forward to that and getting info out there.
