Strategic Planning

I picked up this app for iPad "The Nonprofit Manager's FAQ". It was free, I had to give it a chance!

There were a bunch of helpful stuff in just the short FAQ section. I am going to have to invest in the entire book, as well as a bunch of other ones that they suggest.

I will start with the 10 Steps in Strategic Planning (these are either copied from or modified versions from Strategic Planning for Public and Nonprofit Organizations - 4th Edition - by John M. Bryson

1) Initiate & agree on strategic planning process

2) Identify organizational mandates

3) Clarify organizational missions & values

4) Assess external & internal environments to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & threats

5) Identify the strategic issues facing the organization

6) Formulate strategies to manage the issues

7) Review & adopt the strategic plan(s)

8) Establish an effective organizational version

9) Develop an effective implementation process

10) Reassess strategies & strategic planning process.

For my project, I think that I am going to use this as a rough guideline of things to think about. There were some other really useful documents that were mentioned in the FAQ app. I will most likely be purchasing the booths that they extrapolated from, as it a lot of GREAT starting points, and I've had very little of that to date.
