I am going to go back in time from the Strategic Planning post. There were 10 questions that I needed to "answer" or formulate answers to.
I think I need to figure out a more concise content layout of sorts, while I am answering those questions. Then again, I'm such a structured person, that I can't help but to NEED to have an outline of sorts that I need to be able to plug my entire thesis into. {Reality - That's not going to happen.}
Off to google I go: There are so many hits on strategic planning outlines and guidelines that I got ill. There were, however, fill in the blank documents that I could pay for and download and have fun. I WON'T DO THAT. Why? I owe it to my thesis, my project, my baby, to do this all on my own without trying to be a slacker about it. My late thesis advisor, Monica Shay, said "Thesis is YOUR friend." I will try to honor her quote as best as possible.
Turning back to Non-Profit Manager's FAQ app, I move on to what a strategic plan should include.
- Introduction by the president of the board
- Executive summary
- Mission, vision, and values statements
- History and profile of the organization
- Summary of core strategies
- List of long-term and short-term program and management operation goals and objectives
- Financial, administrative, and governance goals and objectives
- Optional Appendices
- SWOT
- Summary of client needs
- membership of board & planning
- long range budget projections
- long range development plan
Because I'm not exactly starting a business, I'm altering a currently existing performance space, into a self-reliant, stand alone entity in the web of higher ed, it's gets a little murky. I think I will adopt this outline, but only in the content respect; order will be determined as the project develops.
I am visualizing:
- What do I want to do?
- Why do I want to do it?
- What is Memorial Hall (Historical Context) & Why is it important? (LOTS OF PICTURES)
- Current situation (financial as well as adminstrative)
- How should it be implented? (my OPINION)
- Anticipated outcomes
- Current progress
- Probable outcomes
